How do I know this works?
My name is Dr. Valerie L. Wright and I
have not been a stranger to APA papers, having
accomplished a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 1986, a
Masters Degree in Psychology in 1990, and a Ph.D. in
Psychology in 1993. Since then, I have taught APA style
writing or required it on all papers, in all calsses, over the
past 27 years.
My problem with APA at the
undergraduate level was that
many of my professors were NOT up-to-date with the
latest manual requirements. I was constantly
“changing APA” to fit a professor's specific and inaccurate
understanding of the style, rather than following the actual
manual. Twenty years later, a friend of mine returned to
nursing school, and I discovered this problem still
existed. Now, professors were taking off points for “APA
Errors” when there were no errors. Wrong or outdated standards
were applied, turning "A" papers into "B" papers. To solve
this pervasive problem I
created EasyAPA to help students and professors with this
complex writing style.
EasyAPA
is an expansion of a similar, less extensive document I have
been using since 2001; now it includes all the updates in the
Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association, 7th ed.
I know the document works
because students continually email me stating they are more
prepared for graduate school than their colleagues. They
